       Process/Expectations

– include the following

Brain Storm with a friend or by yourself to come up with an idea for a topic that will really get you working ...... if your topic has no meaning for you it will little meaning for anyone else.

•  Name - of the Newspaper your feature appears in ( you can make it up )

• Title – descriptive and inviting as a “hook”.
   

• Opening paragraph must give the reader a good overall impression about the story to follow

• in such a way as to make them want to continue reading it should be BOLD type and at least 1- 2 font sizes larger

• typical fonts for this style would be the more formal types such as NTRoman, Impact, Courier, Trebuchet etc.
   

• Your main body will include the written and visual content that develops the theme of your story.
   

• Use linked columns that flow to frame your text
  (use text boxes to frame your work)
   

• Include several hyperlinks to relevant sites on the Internet that relate to your story 
   

•  Emphasize opening words and paragraphs
   

•  Timeline in a journalist’s style using text and photo images that is be aware of time and order.
   

•  How could this event affect you (friends and family) ? …. Interview a family member and a friend for their opinions.
   

•  How will this event affect your life in the near future?
   

•  750 words or more
   

•  numerous graphics well placed throughout your article

• be sure to include your own picture from our picture file
   

•  your References should be saved as URLs and placed in a separate place at the end of the article under the title
  Web References  ...................save as you go !!!
   

• Graphics and Pictures should have a caption under them that says something about the picture.
  (this can be done using a small text box and font size of 8 or 10)
   

  This is a caption telling the viewer what they are  looking at, pictures will have captions!

• fonts should be selected for by the nature of the content
  a goofy font is not appropriate for serious content however
  Times New Roman might be more appropriate
  (Check the New York Times)
  
  
  Take a good look at layouts on the web and in magazines in the library for ideas about good layout
