Creating columns that fill one to
the other or LINKED columns
Creating columns that flow into each other and allow words and images to spill from one column to another like water is important when setting up publication and tabloid layouts.
This is how you do it!
Open Word (or Publisher
Ø
click on the Text Box
make sure Drawing and Text Box tool bars are highlighted
> select the text box icon
Ø
drag the cursor on the page to create your
Text Box A
Ø
repeat to make another
Text Box
B
Ø
click on
the first Text Box A (it should highlight)
> then click on the link (chain link) in the Text Box tool bar a pitcher of alphabet soup will appear and you will then click (pour) it into the next text box

the text
boxes can be any size on any page
Remember
also
:
> that
you probably want to
justify text
to
fill your
columns as it will make them seem a lot less
cluttered
> to format your pictures (leave them to move with the text)
>
remove the Hyperlink
if you acquired your
images
>
remove the
text box outline if required > right
click …. the text box (should highlight)
…. then format text box to respond to your text
layout ( behind, in front of text ect. )
