ComTech 11 -   technical know how

In this exercise you will work as a team to compile an online web based tech report of information useful to another ComTech student.

1 topic will be chosen  by  each student

Completed topics will then be assembled into an online directory of topics useful to our subject.

Your project will be produced using DreamWeaver a professional web design and construction software.

Each topic will be written in the scientific/technical manner which is characterized as follows: the viewer will ...

 > be interested in design/computer/graphics/internet
> will have little understanding of the topic you are researching

Title Banner - made in PhotoShop (800 pixels wide X 125 pixels)

Title = your topic 

Introduction  > Outlines what your topic is about (short)

Body > Describes your topic fully in words 500  +/- 50 words and images and hyperlinks


a) factual ....... opinions and emotions are omitted

b) economy of description...... fewer words are better

c) use of  properly positioned images ......
> all images are referred to ( as seen in fig. 1 ) 
> all images have a title ( fig. 1 Sound Wave)

d) references are listed at the end of the report


Summary >  summarize the most important points of your topic. This should be kept short with emphasis on the important and perhaps difficult points. The summary should not be "lifted" from an earlier part of your text.

References >   your  references should point to the URLs that you visited to research your topic  as well as any sites of interest that you have found. As we are in the digisphere they should be clickable when online.
-there should be at least 4 references ( no references and you lose %15)

MAJOR HINT>>>>>> MANY STUDENTS THINK THAT OMITTING THE REFERENCES IS ACCEPTABLE

THINK AGAIN?????   IT REEKS OF PLAGIARISM AND THUS LOSES YOU A SIGNIFICANT PERCENTAGE

Other points : your English teachers have given you a great deal of instruction on how to start , proceed with, research, and write/edit papers, use that experience here .

Finally editing is very very important .

Get a parent or friend to proof read for  spelling / grammatical errors, graphical layout, as well as technical description....... if your proof reader  has difficulty understanding your story it  probably needs some revision.

Oh yeah did I mention that Dream Weaver has a spell checker  only prob is it won't put the right word in the right place!d it will open as it will appear on the web. But it is no on the web until you upload it to a server.
