Cosmology: Origins of the Universe

Cosmology: every culture has a creation myth. It appears to
almost be a constant of anthropology ..... where there is human culture
there is a sustaining myth of creation that serves to explain the origin of the universe and the place of the Earth in it. These tales often serve to reinforce the importance of a particular race within its perceived world and fill the void of uncertainty.
Creation Myths from across time and culture
It is natural that even today in our science/technical/materialistic culture that we also have new creation stories now supported by scientific theories supported to a large extent by careful observation using recently developed instruments such as optical or radio telescopes on Earth or positioned in space such as the Hubble telescope.
Steven Hawking is the world's leading
cosmologist today and has encapsulated his theories of the origins of the universe in a book called  A Brief History of Time.
Hawking can be heard doing a voice over on the Pink Floyd Album Division Bell  "Keep Talking"
A) Steady State Universe - the universe is in a steady state neither expanding or collapsing "is as it was"
B) Expanding Universe a result of Big Bang origins
In 1950 British astronomer Fred Hoyle, in support of his own opposing steady-state theory, referred to Gamow’s theory as a mere “big bang,” but the name stuck.
