We take care of the webpage and one of the most important aspects of maintaining a dynamic as opposed to a static page is to try to keep it filled with fresh content.
People love news and even more love pictures of themselves friends and colleagues in action. A web page is a great place to host school articles that describe events complete with pictures!
Part of your senior ComTech experience is producing content for the web which will require you to go out and cover an event or aspect of school life in pictures and prose.
Below is a to do list for those on assignment!
Before you go
- make sure all the gear is in place...... camera / tripod / batteries
- storage media ( cassettes/CDs/memory sticks)
- BATTERIES ARE CHARGED!
- notepad and pen
When you get there
- introduce yourself
- explain why you are doing a story .... where they may view your finished work
- don't get in the way of the event ...... become invisible
- avoid taking pictures of the same individuals over and over
- be aware your presence can "excite certain individuals"
- avoid back lighting
- set up good shooting angles
- anticipate your shots before they happen
- have your automatic settings ready before the anticipated picture
Before you return
- gather up your gear and do final check of equipment
- when you return home offload image files to computer
- print contact sheet of miniature images
- write notes on contact sheet and store somewhere safe
Avoid taking lots of pictures that are not well composed this will only waste your precious time and resources
Work safely, beware of your environment at all times, try to imagine where great images can be found and when. Seize the moment and take great shots.
Being prepared for photography is extremely important good luck will favour the prepared photographer.
