In this
experience we will use ourselves as experimental subjects that will
become part of a larger group analysis of cardiovascular health.
We will generate a cardiovascular profile of
BPM, Blood Pressure, and ECG as well our heart's response to
exercise stressors (stair climb).
Procedure - we will measure individual
BP BPM (resting) EKG,resting. and vital capacty and enter this data for
group analysis into a spread sheet (instructor will
set up the data centre).
BPM will be measured
by counting the radial pulse for a
complete minute. (resting)
Blood Pressure will
be measured using a digital unit connected to a computer and
printer ..... a printout will accompany each reading.
The Stress Response test will be a simple
stair climb to the second floor of the school on the stair case at the
end of the glass hall. You will climb up and down the staircase 10 times
at the fastest pace that you can maintain without slowing down.
After the stair climb you will have an assistant measure your pulse (BPM)
immediately and each minute for the next 10 minutes while you rest in a
sitting position.
This will allow us to measure and analyze the
recovery rate of our group and individuals.
Data will be entered into your personal chart and the data centre for
further work up.
Vital Capacity will be measured using
a volurimeter and recorded as above.
Demonstrations of
the equipment will proceed data collection by students.
We will
need assistants to proceed with this detailed experience please volunteer
if you are willing.
