A story board is the first step in preproduction of any multimedia piece.
It should act as a guide to help you show what the contents of scenes the sequence the animation / film will take and the line of sight the scene will be viewed by the viewer.
A good storyboard helps to guide the production of your movie/animation and helps to organize the production crew in the many steps involved in  the preproduction production and post production stages of your creative work.

The storyboard below  was produced to illustrate the story and production sequence of a short animation.
The frames should be called scenes but it otherwise is a good example of a story board.
Your story boards might also included intro/outro title pages.
