Intro: This challenge is to produce a fun and interesting journalistic work for electronic distribution.

Process: In this production you will work as a team or alone to produce an electronic piece of journalism known as an e-zine. This type of media usually satisfies the needs of a niche market such a  musical genre, organization, style of art, etc. . The potential scope is as wide as your imagination.

FrontPage will be used as the working tool and the page setup will be for web publication as the final product will be published on the web and become part of your portfolio.

Your topic will be your choice but it must somehow link back to your school community in some way. Departments at KCSS are in desperate need of websites.
Your style will be that of your choosing but this style must be maintained throughout the work.

Your work should be contained in a table 600 pixels wide.

Expectations

- first choose a topic that you are interested in your hobby, favorite musician, group, cars, antiwar  site, what ever you think that you want to express on the Internet. I will look very favorably on topics that are locally based involving some aspect of the school and would like to see lots of pictures and at least one photo you have taken.

- will be expected to use principles of design to guide your overall design style

- you will be expected to familiarize yourself with the way in which journalists work.

- a suitable title will be chosen

- make a banner in PhotoShop and import it into your website

- be sure to use PhotoShop to render your work and Save for Web to reduce file sizes

- content will reflect your title and theme

- magazine/tabloid page layout for Online distribution will be used

- a navigation bar on the index page should allow the reader to navigate your site with ease

- your work will be relevant and interesting to others that you relate to or to whom it was intended

- you will prepare for the task by joining a group, studying the process, and then starting to
plan your layout

- web banners will used at the top or bottom of all pages having dimensions of about 480x60 pixels and will advertise something, product, or idea

- web banners will be made in CorelDraw/PhotoPaint or PhotoShop ...... 1/2 of these can be made in commercial banner   sites such as MediaBuilder.com

- several electronic digital pictures will be taken by the group, processed used in your production

- you may want to scan  an image for placement into your zine

- the above might be used to help create art work for the zine or for the banners

- hyperlinks to other relevant sites on the Net will be used several times on each page

- an interesting layout will be used that will have a style that is continuous throughout your piece

- you and your team will use time effectively

- a print out of your work will submitted and also be published on the Internet

- we will have peer evaluation as part of the final mark
