T-shirt design process

Designing a T-shirt image is one of your culminating projects in ComTech.
Your T-shirt is a 10 ounce Guildan made in Canada shirt that if prepared properly will last for years.

With care and use of the talents that you now posses you will be able to create an impressive fabric print job.

Start-up - think of the theme that you would like to develop research your ideas on the Net and play with your ideas. Make a sketch and then throw it away and make another. Doodle in PhotoShop.

Setting up in PhotoShop
> you will have a canvas of 8" x 10"

> resolution = 72

TIPs  -
When designing - remember what colour of fabric you are printing to the colour as it is the background colour for your image

When printing your transfer - get your teacher or student assistant to help as there are 2 types of transfers one for colour and one for white
- white fabric transfers are printed in reverse (because they are flipped during print set up)
-
coloured fabric transfers are printed as usual and the the plastic transfer film is peeled away from the paper and printed without reversing

Check to see if your white transfers are hot or cool peel ....... this is important as it will affect your final product quality if you wait until a hot peel is peeled when cool

When printing to your T-shirt - turn on the T-shirt press and set the temperature on the thermostat to 350 degrees F
- check to see that the timer is set for about 18 seconds

 Finally when you have finished the T-shirt production have someone model your design while take a couple of pictures (front and back)  and include them in your T-shirt design webpage.

                 ::Evaluation and expectations::

Remember your T-shirt designs should be original . Any content from other sources such as the Internet must used in conjunction with an overall design that you created.
