DNA REPLICATION

Meselson and Stahl determined
that DNA replicates in a semi conservative manner that is that the
individual strands replicate a complimentary strand. Thus only one
half of the original parent strand of DNA is conserved in each
daughter strand (2)
They used 15N (heavy) and 14N (light) and
centrifuge techniques in their study.
Note how the old
DNA parent strands are conserved as 2 new halves are created in the
daughter strands
This is called the semi
conservative method of replication.
