Rational - the communications technology program is a dynamic project driven course of study as such the course evaluation will give greatest credit to projects that students complete.

Since students have an opportunity to improve their skills as the course unfolds there will be a higher weighting given to assignments as semester progresses.

Proofs that indicate work is past the preproduction stage are often given an evaluation of smaller weighting.

Short tests will be given that will test students on some of the theoretical aspects of this technology.

Portfolios As it is important for students in this field to be able to present their work effectively, a final summative task of creating an electronic portfolio of their work will be undertaken by each student at the end of the semester and will comprise the final evaluation. It is wise to start on the organization of your portfolio at the begining of your first assignment this will greatly simplify the process of completion. Already students at KCSS are using their online portfolios as part of their resumes when applying to post secondary institutes and are receiving great feedback!

Final Evaluation Breakdown

> tests/quizzes 10% (knowledge/understanding)

> proofs / dialogue/ directory 5% (communication)

> portfolio ( final assessment/communication)   20%

> Projects 65% (application)

note the emphasis on projects this is where you will spend most class time and  gain the most credit

Details

Any work submitted for evaluation that has used content copied from other digital sources without recognition of that contribution will receive a Zero grade and may be subject to further academic penalties as stated in the student handbook on plagiarism.

All projects will have an Evaluation Form included on this website. Students are encouraged to read over both the guidelines/expectations for each project as well as the Evaluation Form before preproduction.

Late Policy - due dates will be flexible and determined by the teacher and students as new applications/equipment in a dynamic setting demand. Neglecting to submit work by the deadline date will result in a penalty of a zero for that project.
Always submit what ever you have accomplished before or on the deadline date even if it is not your best work (digital work can be tweaked and improved infinitely) so that you will not receive a Zero.

Students leaving on family holidays are responsible for their work being done on time. This may mean hurrying to complete work before departure or completing work while away and submitting it online. There are often times when the teacher and student can work out an individualized project that a student could work on while away!

Stay organized express yourself creatively and you will have no trouble staying on track in this course.
