Challenge
theme - mood - story
In this challenge you will select a theme create a visual mood and tell a story.
Your theme will be a topic such as the
 
  • environment (extinction, whales, rain forest, global warming, SUV's etc. etc)
  • some aspect of the human condition ( war, racism, poverty,hypocrisy etc. etc.)
  • a character trait (empathy integrity courage etc. etc.)
  • a topic in the news

Your mood

  • you will create a mood of awareness/optimism/joy/sorrow/humour/etc.
     

Your collage will tell a story

  • not a long story but it will leave the viewer feeling as if they have been made more aware of your theme your graphic will contain at least one line of rendered text.

Design Process

a) Decide on a topic
b) Research your topic on the Internet
> when you find suitable sites for research material copy them and their URLS to a separate file
c) Render images as required for colour, contrast, saturation, brightness, etc.
d) Make a rough story board with pencil and paper outlining your idea.

 Technical Details 

  • set up a new canvas in PhotoShop 750pixels wide x 450pixels high
  • drag and drop open the layers box and layers styles box
  • set up a background on the canvas and proceed to place and arrange your images in the collage that you have designed
  • experiment with the various PhotoShop tools such as the filters and colour enhancements etc.  remember Tips and Hints
  • remember that you can rearrange layers in any way you choose
  • you will most likely need to change the size of many of your composite images
  • print out  a proof (or several) on the BW laser printer first then .......

  • a) we will print the final rendition of your Photo  collage in colour on glossy Photo Paper or .......

  •  b) laminate the colour image that you print out on High Quality InkJet paper
